Wednesday – August 29, 2007

This morning I had class at 10:45 am. I got up pretty early to work on that project, but I never actually got out of bed. I hate being sick! I did get up in time to eat breakfast and go to class. We had to read information about calcography – basically etching lines in a metal slab, filling the lines with ink and printing it – and make a presentation about it.

Then I came home, dropped my stuff and went to the doctors. I went to the “Instituto Modelo de Cardiológico” which is relatively near my house and BIG. I was honestly scared, I hate going to the doctor anyway and in Spanish it’s worse... So I went into the reception area, but if you don’t have an appointment they send you to a different reception office just for people without appointments. After listening to a series of long, rambling, somewhat confusing directions, I wandered around until I found “la guardia” – the other reception area. The people were extremely nice. I gave them my information, waited about 20 minutes, and saw the doctor.

The doctor was very good, and not scary. He said yes, I’m sick. I have a sinus infection. I should take this medicine for the congestion and this antibiotic – both for a week. I should drink orange juice and sleep a lot and not go anywhere this weekend. Nothing new, really. But hey, the medicine should help.

I went out, paid nothing (it’s all covered by OSDE, my school medical insurance) and walked across the street to the pharmacy. OSDE covers 40% of prescription medication BUT this pharmacy doesn’t accept OSDE. I filled it anyway. I can take the receipt and the medicine boxes to the OSDE office downtown, turn it in, and they will mail me my refund.

After that I went back home and ate lunch. I had Lit class this afternoon at 3:45. We finished talking about “El Matadero” and have to write an essay on it for Monday. We also started talking about Sarmiento’s “Facundo.” It’s easier to read and understand, but also more boring than “El Matadero.”

On the way home, I stopped at the supermarket to buy orange juice, according to the doctor’s directions, and tissues. Then I came home, worked on some homework and that project, ate dinner, and went to bed.
