Memories of happier times...This morning I didn’t have class until 10:15 am, so I got up early and talked to Andrew for a few hours. He’s doing good, a little stressed but okay, and we are doing great. I miss him like crazy though! But it was nice to have some time to talk. My first class was Technology – it’s essentially about learning to design your work based on what type of printing you are going to use. It’s a simple concept, really – for example, if you want a flyer you can photocopy and distribute in the street, you want to use mostly black and white and not a lot of complicated photographs. I think the class is going to be really interesting though! I’m definitely keeping that one.
The next class I went to was Computation. We are studying Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. We have four weeks of Illustrator and then the rest of the semester is Photoshop. But unfortunately I don’t think I’m going to be able to take it... Everyone else has already had a year of basic Adobe Illustrator class, and I’ve never used it. So it’s really hard to keep up, because I don’t know any of the commands or anything. But I’m considering taking the Intro to Computation class (the basic Illustrator class) next semester while I’m here.
After that was my second Literature class. It’s a twice-a-week class. So that was good! We had to read this essay by Julio Corázar called, “Realidad y Literatura” – Reality and Literature – that talked about how Latin American literature changed in the 1960’s to become more authentic and what that meant for the authors and readers of contemporary Latin American literature. That was homework. In class we discussed the reading guide questions and talked about the themes and such. It was actually really interesting. We have to write an essay on it for Monday. Bleh.
Then I came home, did a little homework, ate dinner with my family, and I’m headed to bed.
