Tuesday – August 28, 2007

This morning I got up around 8:00 am and worked on my Typography project. I still have another few hours worth of work to do on it, but I think it’s really going to turn out well. Then I had horseback riding at 11:00 am. I have officially decided that riding English has NOTHING in common with riding Western except that it involves horses. So I’m learning how to sit and post and use a crop... It’s really interesting but also kind of frustrating. We’re going on a cabalgata – trail ride – next time, so I’m really excited about that!

I came home, rinsed off, grabbed some lunch and hopped on the bus for school. We watched a movie today in History – NOT a good idea when you are on allergy medication, by the way. Then we had Spanish, which was pretty good... The class itself is interesting, we’re learning a lot of colloquial phrases and useful things – I don’t feel like I’m wasting my time at all. But it frustrates me that no one EVER volunteers when she asks a question, unless she calls on them specifically. So there is a lot of waiting silence. Hopefully it will get better as we get more secure in our Spanish... I hope.

And Allyson’s parents are here from the USA – they brought me peanut butter! JIF Peanut Butter!!!! I think that is the highlight of my week.

After class, I went with Amy, Anne, and Fran to a travel agency to look into trips to Peninsula Valdes. Yeah, there is NO way we can afford to go there, especially just for the weekend. It would be almost $800 US (not pesos) just for the flights alone, not including hostel or excursions or food or anything. So Amy and I are planning to go to Salta and Jujuy.

At the end of the semester, Christina and Anne are going to Bariloche in Patagonia, and then up through Chile (Anne lived there for a while, I think a few months), to Machu Pichu, and back to Santiago to fly home. So I’ve found my travel buddies! Now I just have to look into changing my airline ticket...

Then I came home and worked on that project some more. When Vero and Valentina got home, I made them a plate with peanut butter crackers, a peanut butter sandwich, and an apple with peanut butter. Valentina didn’t like it, but Vero and Jorge liked it all! Vero said JIF is much better than what the girl brought last time – Peter Pan! HAH! That’s all I have to say.

Then we ate dinner, I worked on some Lit homework and went to bed. I’m going to the doctor tomorrow between classes.
