This morning I had equitación at 10:30 am. We went on a “cabalgato” – basically a trail ride through the mountains. It was absolutely amazing!!! Definitely the best riding experience in Argentina thus far.

Then I went to school. We talked about the “cartonero” phenomenon – a group of people who are making a living by searching the garbage for recyclables. It’s becoming more and more common in Argentina because of the recent economic crisis.

After class, Allyson and I went with Vane to her English class. She teaches basic English at a learning institute. We talked to the kids about why we decided to study abroad, what we liked and disliked about Argentina, and answered questions. It was really fun! The students were of all ages, from 12 to 45. It was interesting to hear them explain why they wanted to learn to speak English.

After class, Ally and Vane and I went to Vane’s house for dinner. Her mom made milanesas de pollo (essentially chicken shnitzel), with arugula salad, a tomato and olive salad, and ice cream for dessert. We stayed and talked with her and her parents until at least 1:00 am, and then we finally went home.
