This morning, Ally and I went with Jessica downtown to the Oficina de Migraciones. We turned in our Certificado de Reincidencia along with a bunch of other papers and filled out the application for our student visas. Clara, one of the ladies who works in the CRI office, made a special appointment for us, so we didn’t have to wait in line. The migrations office is actually closed to the public on Fridays, but we got to go anyway.
After we finished at the migrations office, we decided to do a little shopping. I bought a cute new outfit to wear when we go to Buenos Aires next week! Brown dress pants and a cute yellow top. Allyson and I probably tried on everything in the store!
After that, we went home, ate lunch, and went to class at 2:30 pm. We talked about the role of women in contemporary Argentinian society. It was not a fun class for me. Except for one boy from Clemson and one boy from Florida, all of the other kids in the program are from up north. So we had a very long and drawn-out debate about the role of women in society in general. I hate debates, because everyone just wants to yell their opinion and doesn’t want to sit and listen.
Anyway, now I’m home from class and PACKING FOR MENDOZA!!!! I am so excited. Our bus leaves at 10:45 pm tonight from the terminal in downtown Córdoba, and arrives in Mendoza around 6:00 am tomorrow morning. We have all day tomorrow and all day Sunday – our bus leaves around 11:00 pm on Sunday and gets back around 7:00 am. Some people want to go hang gliding... Apparently Rus went today! (Rus, Amelia and a few others left last night.) I don’t want to hang glide – heights: not my thing – but I will definitely go and watch!
What really sucks is that we don’t get back from Mendoza until Monday morning, and then we have our final exam on Wednesday afternoon. Our final exam, which is composed of one grammar section on “el imperativo en el voceo”, questions about two text readings about geography and activities in Argentina (tourism), an essay about the caronero phenomenon, and a comprehension section. We also have to prepare, with a partner, an oral presentation of about 10 to 15 minutes about one of the themes we studied this semester. Arghhh!
