It is SO nice not to have class until afternoon on Thursdays! I slept in and did a load of laundry. However, the colectivos were still on strike today, so when Vero went to Nati’s (her best friend / Mary Marshall’s host mom) I rode with her and walked to school from there. Nati lives like 2 blocks from campus, so that was really nice.
I was very Argentinian today and brought a mate to school with me... I have the whole kit now – the thermos of hot water (with sugar, when I do it), the little container full of yierba, and of course the mate and the bombillón (silver mate straw). I sat outside with Anne, Tara (from Canada), Satomi (from Japan), Christina and Josh and we drank mate and talked. It was so nice!
Then we had History. José (our teacher) sent us outside to try the “pata” – grilled cow leg meat, supposedly the best part – that the tourism students prepared. Then we started class. Hahaha
After History we had our Spanish midterm. I think I did pretty well. It’s hard to tell with Spanish – obviously, if I write it down, I think it’s right! But I did check over it and caught a few mistakes, so hopefully it will be good.
After class I took a remis home with Allyson. I finished doing laundry – including 15 hand-wash pieces, Mom would be proud. I LOVE the way clothes smell after they’ve been hung out to dry! It’s so nice... But it’s a pain when it rains. I think I’ll have a clothesline AND a dryer. Anyway, after that we ate dinner. Gabi and Allyson came over to eat dinner with us, so that was nice. I haven’t gotten to see Gabi lately. She’s working at a pharmacy in downtown Córdoba, so she’s always gone.
After dinner, Allyson and I got a few hours of sleep and then went out dancing with Leah, Amelia, Vane, Vicki, Mateas (Vane’s friend), and Trey (from CC-CS). We made friends with the bouncer – his name is Guido, and he’s German! He grew up in Germany (Munich), but then his family moved to Mexico for 9 years and then 4 years ago he moved to Córdoba. So that was really cool!
We finally came home around 6:00 am to get some sleep!
