Got up early to wash clothes, but guess what? It’s still raining! I guess I’m going to have to take them to a laundromat or something, because I have to have clothes to take to Tucuman this weekend...
I got up and walked around the neighborhood this morning in the rain. It was just too stifling in the house – the guys are still here working on fixing the bathrooms, so there are people everywhere and tons of noise. And Thursday mornings I usually wake up and talk to Andrew, but he hasn’t had Internet for the past few days at least so I decided to just get up and do something. I did find the post office, though! There’s one only a few blocks away from my house, where they sell stamps to mail letters to the United States. I do have to mail the letters at the post office, but like I said it’s only a few blocks away, so I’m planning to start writing postcards soon!
Then I had History class, which was excellent, and Spanish. Spanish wasn’t too bad today. We did a music exchange at the end of class – one of the Japanese girls brought some Japanese rock, Mariana brought some Brazilian hip-hop, and Josh brought his lap-top so we played with his iTunes. It was really fun.
After class, Christina and Anne and I were going to go get pedicures, but it was raining and gross, and it turns out you need an appointment, so we’re going to call and set that up for next week sometime. So I went with Mary Marshall to get our clothes ready and search for a laundromat.
Actually, the “laundromats” here are not actually laundromats – more like dry cleaning services but with just regular washing and drying. You drop your clothes off in a bag, they wash them, dry them, and fold them, and put them back in the bag for you to take home. We are cutting it really close – our clothes aren’t supposed to be done until 6:30 pm tomorrow, and we leave from the school at 9:30... But it should be okay.
Then I wandered down Rafael Nuñez for a while... They have some really cute stores. I actually met up with Anne coming back from the school, and we went into a cute accessories shop. Then she went home, and I went shopping for a little while. I ended up in Plaza Victorino with a pot of tea and a book that I had with me. It was really nice!
I waited at Plaza Victorino until around 10:00 pm, and then went down the street to Juan Bravo’s to meet up with everyone for dinner. It ended up being me, Amy, Christina, Anne, Cassi, Josh, and Mary Marshall. The pizza there was utterly amazing!
After pizza, we decided to go get ice cream. But the Grido was closed, so we went back to Plaza Victorino and had fruit salad with ice cream. Yummy! Around 2:00 am, we finally decided to head home. I love not having school on Fridays!
